Palliative Care Hotline

Maryland is the first state in the nation to have a 24 hour pain hotline, where any physician who has a pain management question can call and receive the immediate expertise of a physician who has been trained and certified in the specialty of hospice and palliative care medicine.

The hotline has been established as a toll-free number that will be available to physicians who wish to obtain immediate consultation on pain management in palliative care. 

All on-call physicians are board-certified in hospice and palliative care medicine.

Bridging End-of-Life Gaps

The Hospice Network of Maryland is initiating a new effort to offer programs for other caregivers in Maryland who deal with end-of-life issues.  The effort is intended to strengthen relationships between community hospices, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult day care and other providers.  By bringing together colleagues from various facilities to engage in fellowship and professional conversations, HNM hopes to bridge the gaps that often have us working in different directions to meet the same common goal, quality end of life care.
