EXPERIENCES OF LGBT PATIENTS AND FAMILIES IN HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE

The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community has a long history of experiencing discrimination and stigma in health care and social services. This study is being conducted by an interprofessional team of palliative care researchers (see below for team listing). The study will examine the experiences of LGBT older adults and their family and friends involved in hospice and palliative care programs in order to determine the degree to which their care is discriminatory, disrespectful, or inappropriate based on their sexual minority status. This project is funded by the Borchard Center for Law and Aging.

As a hospice and palliative care professional, administrator, or elder law attorney, we are inviting you to participate in this study. Study findings will be used to develop and disseminate policy and practice recommendations.
